About SC Equality
Since its founding in 2002, SC Equality has consistently worked to advance civil and human rights for GLBT South Carolinians.
South Carolina Equality Coalition was established in 2002 as a statewide non-partisan coalition of local and state social, religious and political GLBT organizations and allies with a mission to secure civil and human rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender South Carolinians.
Both a 501(c)3 charitable and educational organization and a 501 (c)4 political organization focused on social welfare and legislation were chartered. While originally organized as a coalition of GLBT and progressive organizations, both the (c)3 and (c)4 organizations of South Carolina Equality now provide leadership as independent educational and political advocacy organizations, respectively, working for GLBT inclusive policies at the local and state levels.
