Straight or Gay, Support SCEC and Fairness for ALL Families



If you are LGBT, the bottom line is that it is up to us to win or lose this public referendum on our lives and our love. There are conservatively 250,000 LGBT people in this state. If you speak to two people from your heart and secure their "No" vote on the amendment, then it's slam-dunk-game-over-we-win. We only need around 636,146 votes to defeat the amendment and that would put us well over. And, not only would we defeat the amendment, but also the sexual prejudice that denigrates us all.

If you aren't LGBT, why would you be interested? The amendment is being used to marginalize a quarter of a million of your neighbors and their families. Changing the constitution is unnecessary, a slippery slope and mean spirited. Good, smart, talented, contributing LGBT citizens will leave this state in droves and others won't come. This bill will negatively impact tourism, create a brain and talent drain. Families, ALL families, should be created by love, commitment and responsibility and treated equally.

It's simply just plain wrong! Wrong for America. Wrong for South Carolina. There can never be an exception to "equal protection under the law" that doesn't threaten the very foundation of America, and every American citizen.
