Transgender Day of Remembrance

Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, we honor the transgender and gender-nonconforming lives taken by anti-trans violence. We remember their names, their stories, and their light — and we recommit to protecting the living.

TDOR is a solemn reminder that visibility often comes at a cost. Transgender people, especially Black and Brown trans women, continue to face disproportionate violence, discrimination, and erasure. But today is also a call to action: to stand together, to speak truth, and to build a South Carolina where every trans person can live openly, safely, and authentically.
